AGAT Laboratories’ Western Canada Headquarters, in Calgary, AB, is currently in search of a dynamic individual to join our Environmental Division Inorganics Laboratory Team.
- Degree in Chemistry or related science.
- 5+ years experience in inorganic soil chemistry, preferably in a lead role.
- Very strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to be very organized and work well alone or with the team.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office with strong computer skills.
- Can successfully deliver on multiple deadlines;
- Environmental lab experience preferred, with knowledge of CAEAL certification, Standard Methods and EPA methodology.
- Responsibilities Include:
- Act as technical support for troubleshooting and resolving problems with analytical instruments and test methods.
- Take the lead in implementing new procedures, test methods, instrumentation requirements and the set-up of the above within the laboratory. Write, update and implement standard operating procedures for all methods within the lab.
- Maintain training and serve as a support to analysts when required.
- Enforce strict QA procedures while conducting/training staff on method validations and certifications.
- When necessary, supply input on required capital equipment expenditures, supply updates on industry and lab technical updates and be aware of any pertinent changes to test methods on a regional and national level.
- Lead the environmental inorganics team by way of example and knowledge while doing what is necessary to maintain an efficient lab and get the job done.
