FUEL ANALYSIS

Fuel Check Program

Fuel analysis involves the distillation of diesel fuel (ASTM D 86) to determine if it is contaminated with lighter hydrocarbons such as gasoline. AGAT Laboratories has the capability to perform the distillation in many ways using state of the art apparatus and chromatography instruments. The analysis report presents a comprehensive explanation of the sample results ensuring that nothing is left to speculation. This test should be requested whenever there is a suspicion of problems with the fuel and is used by most bulk fuel carriers. Testing of this nature will confirm gasoline contamination in diesel fuel preventing major damage in engines.

Fuel Quality Testing

Fuel Quality Testing is designed to determine the quality of the diesel fuel in question and involves the cooperation of AGAT Laboratories’ many different divisions. This testing will help determine if the fuel is within the manufacturers’ specification and if it is safe to use. The analysis is presented with a comprehensive explanation of the test results along with recommendations when applicable. This test should be requested whenever fuel quality comes into question, for example where there is an abnormal amount of smoking, difficulties running the engine, etc. This testing has determined if the fuel is up to industry standards so that engine damage is not experienced during operation thus saving thousands of dollars in repairs.
